General Description

This two week full time hands on training program is designed to provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills to competently work as a rouse-about within the shearing industry. The course is run in conjunction with the Novice Shearing School at a shearing shed.

Student requirements for the course:
Students will need to wear appropriate clothing and footwear to work in the shearing shed. You will also need to bring your own food, water bottle, towel and a pen each day.

Bendigo TAFE will supply:
- Tea and coffee making facilities

A bus will travel each day from Bendigo to the shearing shed. It is important that people meet at the Charleston Road Campus of Bendigo TAFE at 8am on the first day. After that, the teacher in charge will be able to make arrangements with people on an individual basis.

Accreditation This course is accredited by Bendigo TAFE and contains some units which have National Recognition. For further information please speak to the course coordinator or teacher.
Prerequisites of Qualifications / Experience

There are no prerequisites for entry into this course. 

Other Entry Requirements You will however, need basic literacy and numeracy skills and you must be physically fit and willing to work in the Agriculture Industry.
Further Study Options After successful completion you may chose to go onto your wool classing qualification.

Recognition of Prior Learning Recognition of your current qualifications and prior learning: Bendigo TAFE has processes to give you credit for relevant units from your prior study, and to assess your prior learning against units in a course.
